Janet Farmer is the Nursing Team Leader and Clinical Nurse Consultant at the West Moreton Public Health Unit. Janet has extensive experience across acute care, rural and metropolitan health services, infection prevention and control, immunisation, and public health.
Janet began her career working in acute care settings in major metropolitan hospitals and rural communities in North Queensland, where she developed broad clinical skills and an appreciation for the diverse healthcare needs of different populations. She trained and worked as a midwife before specialising in infection prevention and control and developing her passion for immunisation.
For the past 15 years, Janet has worked in public health roles across Southeast Queensland and with the Queensland Department of Health, delivering community-based immunisation programs and contributing to communicable disease prevention initiatives. She is passionate about education, particularly immunisation, translating evidence into practice, mentoring health professionals, and contributing to statewide and local public health improvements.
